Welcome Andrew – Newborn Session – Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin

I pulled up to Tom and Nancy’s home eager to finally meet them. Our paths have crossed many times in the past but we have never officially been introduced. Being invited to their home to photograph them welcoming Andrew into their family was an honor. Having time to sit down with mothers of newborns and chat about the challenges and blessings that come with bringing that sweet baby home is something I cherish. I feel we all need a friend to just sit with us and listen, offer encouragement, and share our joy with. I am so happy to get to bring along my camera and be that friend to so many moms. Whether it is your first of fifth child each one is different, and each one brings new things to learn about yourself and being a mother.

As I sat with Nancy we exchanged the usual comments on how quickly the time passes with these little ones. It really doesn’t matter how many times you have been told or have even experienced it yourself the time seems to pass even quicker than you can imagine. I remember her telling me that a couple days earlier she gave herself permission to just sit on the couch and snuggle Andrew the entire day. What a perfect day. As moms there always seems to be laundry that needs folded, dishes that need washed, or floors that need swept. It is so important to allow ourselves those days to rest and take in all the perfection that is our life.

Tom and Nancy are the perfect parents to this sweet boy. I wish you all endless days of snuggles, laughter, and love.
